air con problem e46

i have an 318ci 2000 and just recently started having problems with the air con.i say that, the air con blows out lovely and cold but the windscreen vent blows out very hot all the time. fan controls work fine, air con switches on and off fine.i can turn off the fan but this doesn't stop the heat from trickling up the windscreen thus still heating up the car. any help would be great i'm starting to slowly cook myself everytime i go for a drive.

on my car 325i there is a roller knob between the two center vents with three red dots. youll be able to roll this knob up or down. When you get to the cold end of the roller knob the dots will be blue. center dot white
